Dr. McKinley first became interested in medicine in high school– inspired by a biology teacher and some incredible doctors who saved her father’s life. After residency, she practiced pediatrics in the Boston area for 3 years before moving to Maine. She and her husband were both raised in small towns and soon missed the sense of community they had growing up; they wanted that for their boys. They have loved living in Maine. Susan is an avid knitter and a Red Sox fan.
Dr. McKinley has always been especially interested in children’s development. This became more than an academic interest when her oldest son was diagnosed with autism. She loves helping special kids of all abilities reach their full potential, and helping their parents find the silver lining in the cloud.
